Great Interest in the ADAC OPEL Rallye Cup

09.02.2016

The interest amongst potential participants in the ADAC Opel Rallye Cup 2016 is consistently high. Up until now, around four weeks before the prelude to the fourth season of the successful ADAC and Opel rally brand cup within the scope of the ADAC Saarland Pfalz Rallye (4th/5th of March), fifteen gifted rally pilots from seven nations have signed up for the event. The organizers expect further participants to sign up over the next few days.

The initial application phase ends on Monday the 8th of February. Speedy applicants benefit from an advantageous registration fee of 3800 euro net. This contains an attractive benefits package which contains the entry fee for all eight evaluation races, team clothing for drivers and front seat passengers, as well as all-year-round admission to the Cup Hospitality area for four people. New drivers and passengers to the competition receive an additional racing overall, as well as a service tent with groundsheet for their ADAM Cup vehicle. The registration form is available for download at: www.adac.de/opel-rallye-cup

The ADAC Opel Rallye Cup 2016 is open to participants of all ages. Prize money of about 60,000 euros is awarded over the course of the season. In addition, the ADAC Opel Rallye Junior Cup is open to drivers of up to 27 years old (those born in 1989 or later). The three best-placed juniors of the season receive additional prize money of 30,000, 20,000 and 10,000 euros. All in all, about 120,000 euros of annual prize money are awarded in the ADAC Opel Rallye Cup 2016 competitions.

Especially attractive is the chance to qualify with excellence for admission into the ADAC Opel Rallye Junior Team and to participate the year afterwards in the Opel ADAM R2 in the European Junior Championship (FIA ERC Junior). The young drivers who excelled last year and who will be taking to the grid this year are Marijan Griebel (26, Hahnweiler) and Julius Tannert (25, Zwickau). These two were the fastest juniors in the ADAC Opel Rallye Cup in 2013 and 2015, and they aim to follow in the footsteps of Opel works team pilot Emil Bergkvist. The Swede was champion in 2014 and stepped up into the ADAC Opel Rallye Junior Team, pitting his skills last season against the toughest European competition for the European junior championship title.

The ADAC Opel Rallye Cup 2016 contains seven attractive German rally events. The indisputable climax of the season is the start with the ADAC Rallye of Germany. The young Opel ADAM Cup aces will race around Trier in two evaluation races within the scope of the German world championship race.
